O.K., maybe Ralph Gutierrez, long-time Severance guitarist and co-founder of Severance, is not dead, but Severance has lost our metal brother to commit himself to other priorities. I, Jaime, started this band with Ralph (among others) back in May of 1989. After a brief absence from approximately 1991- 1994, Ralph decided to rejoin his metal brothers to engage in more ear-deafening entertainment. The parting of ways was amicable, and there are no hard feelings of any kind.  Meanwhile, Abel,  Joe Dan, Mike and myself will continue to sustain this band and resume with the possible recording of our 4th CD by year's end. A fifth member will be sought, but for now, a four-piece line-up will proceed with the damage we started close to 20 years ago.  Good luck to you Ralph with everything you do from all your Severance brothers, and thanks for giving us a part of your life. It was fun, and it won't be forgotten. JP

       

By now most of you already know the world has one less reason to laugh. Comedy legend, actor, writer and freethinker George Carlin passed away from heart failure on Sunday, June 22, 2008. Those of you who aren't familiar with his comedy routines need to educate yourself with his intellectual rantings and prepare to be shocked and humored simultaneously. Take the time to look up videos or rent his performances, and you won't be disappointed. Farewell George; thanks for all the laughs!!!! JP

The latest creation from yours truly is titled, "Euthanized". Those of you who know what the word means should have a good idea what the song is about. Those of you who don't know what euthanized or euthanasia means should consult a dictionary. This is the 6th song written for the upcoming CD. The 7th song is already musically complete as well and will be titled, "Immuned to Immorality". The lyrics for this track are completed, and this song will be about engaging in indecency/immorality and not feeling guilty about it because it has become the norm. An classical, acoustic instrumental piece is being constructed by the Joe Dan that will be included on the album as well. This track will be titled,"Ascension to Nowhere". We would like to write one more song and hit the studio before summer's end. As you can see, we have been pretty busy getting things rolling. Considering we write like turtles walk, things are going at a productive pace. Check back to this site to get the lastest developments. Stay metal. JP

As some of you may already know, we are planning on releasing a compilation disc of previously-released material.  The purpose of this release is to compile all of our best songs and put them on one disc.  The only problem is that we can't reach an agreement on which songs to choose.  That is why we have decided to let you, the listeners, decide for us.  Simply go to our Listener Song Vote Page and pick 3 of the listed songs that you would like to see on this release.  The 8 songs with the most votes will be included on this CD.  In addition to the 8 songs, we will be including one new, unreleased song, and some video footage.  This will be a great way of introducing our newer, younger fans to both the new and old Severance.  Thanks for you help.
